Donnie Baseball is one of the most popular Yankees in the team's history. Although Mattingly never played on a World Series championship team his popularity is nevertheless comparable to that of Yankee greats like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Joe DiMaggio.  Don ruled the American League in the mid to late 80s.  During that time he was elected to the All Star team 6 consecutive times.  He won the MVP award in 1985.  Mattingly ended his career in 1995 with a .307 batting average over 220 HRs and 2,153 hits.   

Offered for sale is an outstanding Don Mattingly game used bat dating to the pinnacle of his career, 1986-87.  This hickory finished Louisville slugger is a model T141 shows great game use throughout.  On the barrel there are several well defined seam marks visible as well as slight grain swelling from repeated contact.  On the handle is a nice coat of pine tar.  There is a crack that is very nicely repaired.  On the knob is written Donny’s number “23” in extremely faded marker.  Fading and poor contrast make it very difficult to see but it is there.  Mattingly has placed a perfect gold signature on the barrel of the bat which matches beautifully with the bats gold stamping.   According to H&B factory records, only two batches of hickory model T141 bats were shipped to Mattingly (August of 1986 and September of the 1987 - 24 bats total) making this an extremely rare Mattingly gamer.  Due to a strong demand and relatively limited supply, his game used bats are difficult to find.   You would be hard pressed to find a nicer Mattingly gamer than this.......................$1295
